With the partnership between Assil and Pentastudio, lighting technology takes center stage at Smart Building Expo
ASSIL, the Italian National Association of Lighting Manufacturers, announces a partnership with Pentastudio for the creation—within the upcoming edition of SMART BUILDING EXPO (November 19–21, Fiera Milano)—of a collective area called SMART LIGHTING, dedicated to the world of lighting technology. This synergy will highlight the contribution that lighting can make to home and building automation, as well as to energy savings in buildings and urban areas.
The focus on alternative energy and the sustainable city fits perfectly into the vision of SMART BUILDING EXPO, which finds its natural place within MIBA – Milan International Building Alliance, Fiera Milano’s format that puts sustainable, efficient, and safe buildings at the center. Four synergistic trade shows—Smart Building Expo, SICUREZZA, MADE Expo, and GEE – Global Elevator Exhibition—will offer a unique and comprehensive perspective on the evolution of the built environment, with a particular emphasis on the digital and energy twin transition of Italian and European building assets. The last edition of MIBA, held in 2023, achieved remarkable numbers: 1,350 participating companies, 80,000 professional visitors, and 427 international buyers from 111 countries over just three days.
ASSIL will also be present at the fair alongside Pentastudio, coordinating an area dedicated to lighting technology and contributing to a rich program of thematic panels, inspirational keynotes, interviews, and networking activities across three themed days.
“Promoting a true culture of light is one of the fundamental missions carried out by our association. We are therefore pleased to take part in the upcoming edition of SMART BUILDING EXPO, an event that addresses the challenges of the energy and digital transition. It is a valuable opportunity for dialogue and vision, where companies, institutions, and innovators can work together to build the sustainable future of lighting,” explains Carlo Comandini, President of ASSIL.
“The alliance with ASSIL represents another important building block in a network of collaborations aimed at making Smart Building Expo a highly engaging event co-designed with the entire innovation supply chain in the home, building, and city sectors,” says Luca Baldin, project manager of the event and director of Pentastudio. “Involving the key players in lighting technology was only natural, as the conversation now largely revolves around energy transition and electrification. I am truly grateful to President Comandini for believing in the project we are developing with Fiera Milano: to deliver a European-level trade fair in this strategic sector for Italy.”
ASSIL – the Italian National Lighting Manufacturers Association, federated with ANIE Confindustria – brings together around 100 companies producing lighting fixtures, electrical components, light sources, and LEDs, representing some of the most prominent players in the Italian lighting market. ASSIL member companies, with a total turnover of approximately €2.8 billion, generate over 65% of the Italian lighting sector’s total revenue and employ more than 8,700 workers. The association’s mission is to represent, protect, and support its member companies to foster the growth of a quality-driven industry based on innovation and internationalization.
