AIBACS at Smart Building Expo: training, skills, and certification for Building Automation

Interview with Marco Praderio, President of AIBACS

AIBACS will be one of the key players at Smart Building Expo, managing one of the Innovation Squares.
What are the main topics you intend to highlight for technicians and designers attending this important event?
The market offers many solutions for Building Automation, and knowing how to choose the most suitable ones for the systems being installed makes a huge difference — from initial costs to ease of use and maintenance after commissioning.
AIBACS will offer a series of training and educational sessions throughout the exhibition days, with experts capable of summarizing the key principles behind the choices and more. The goal is to allow those who attend the sessions to get to know us and gain important new insights into the world of Building Automation — without being tied to individual manufacturers or specific communication protocols.

What is AIBACS’s approach to home and building automation, and what are your priorities?
Every day we are reminded that Building Automation must be managed with professionalism, and that increasingly strict laws and regulations on energy efficiency offer huge opportunities for those who can seize them with the right approach.
Our Association never misses a chance to promote the skills needed to raise the technical level of those who manage, or are preparing to manage, building automation systems.
Our top priority has always been to focus on high-quality training, delivered in person when possible, and online via our website www.aibacs.it.

Where do we stand on the development of the System Integrator profession, and what role does an association like yours play?
For about two years, we have been working on a certification protocol for new, non-regulated professional roles already identified in the standard currently under review by CTI — UNI CEI TS 11672.
As soon as we receive confirmation regarding the updated version, we will proceed with APAVE to finalize the certification process, recognized by ACCREDIA, in order to provide the market with a certification that makes it easier to identify qualified professionals.
